Learn Turkish by watching Netflix
Turkish is the most underrated language on Netflix. Turkish dramas travel globally and the catalogue is unusually deep, yet learning tools for Turkish are thin. Graded subtitle immersion suits it well: the spelling is perfectly phonetic, so a word you read is a word you can say.

How long does it take to learn Turkish?
Why learn Turkish?
- Turkish dizi are among the most widely exported television dramas in the world.
- Spelling is entirely phonetic, so pronunciation follows directly from the written word.
- The grammar is strikingly regular, with almost no irregular verbs and no grammatical gender.
- Learner resources are scarce relative to demand, so the catalogue is the best teacher available.

Frequently asked questions
- Is Turkish hard to learn?
- Turkish is rated FSI Category III, harder than Spanish but easier than Arabic or Japanese. The difficulty is structural rather than chaotic: once you understand how suffixes attach, the system is extremely consistent and there is very little to memorise as an exception.
- Which Netflix shows are best for learning Turkish?
- The Protector and Ethos are common starting points, with Ethos being slower and more dialogue-driven. Historical epics are rich but use archaic vocabulary that will not help an early learner.
