Is Lingopie free?
No, not permanently. Lingopie has no permanent free plan. It offers a free trial that requires a credit card, and after that it is a paid subscription. We are not quoting a monthly figure here, because the last one we recorded was a stale reading we could not re-verify, and a wrong price is worse than no price: read the current plans on lingopie.com. One structural point does hold whatever the number is, and Lingopie states it themselves, which is that the subscription does not include the streaming service you watch on. If what you want is something free to keep, LingoBinge is free, and asbplayer is free and open source.
Does Lingopie work with Netflix?
Partly, and this answer used to be wrong here. Lingopie began as its own player with its own licensed library, and we described it that way for too long. It now also ships a browser extension, which its own blog says works on select titles on your favourite streaming services, and which the Chrome Web Store recorded at 50,000 users when we checked on 12 August 2026. Lingopie states the extension costs nothing extra but needs a Lingopie subscription, and that a Lingopie subscription does not include the streaming subscription itself. So the honest comparison is no longer library versus your own Netflix: it is that both tools can work on titles you already pay for, and Lingopie asks for a subscription on top while LingoBinge does not. Check their current title and language coverage on lingopie.com, because select titles is their wording and we have not verified its limits ourselves.
Why is Lingopie not working?
We have not reproduced any Lingopie fault and will not guess at one, so their own support is the place to raise it. Two things are worth knowing about the shape of the product. Lingopie runs both its own player and a browser extension, so the first useful question is which of the two is failing, because they fail for different reasons. If it is the extension, the generic advice for this whole category applies: streaming sites are single-page apps, so an extension that was not injected on the episode you opened often comes back after a full page reload rather than a click through the app.
Can I move from Lingopie to LingoBinge?
